Experimentation
Manage the experiment lifecycle through the REST API
May 27, 2026
GrowthBook’s expanded REST API lets you manage experiments from setup through conclusions in your own tools. A script or agent can create experiments, check launch readiness, read results, and record decisions. You choose which steps to automate and where a person reviews the work.
Work through the lifecycle
The API covers an action at each stage of an experiment:
- Create an experiment and use its pre-launch checklist to see what still needs attention.
- Mark manual checklist items complete after you finish those checks.
- Retrieve the latest results for many experiments in one call, with metric and variation names alongside their IDs when names are available.
- Record a result status, the winning variation, and an analysis summary.
Pulling results across experiments in one request makes a recurring status check practical, such as a daily summary of the latest results across your experiments.
Getting started
Create a Secret Key under Settings → API Keys, using a role with the experiment permissions your workflow needs. Use the experiment API reference to create a draft experiment, then read back its saved configuration before adding launch actions.
