Explore SQL results and turn them into charts
SQL Explorer has been rebuilt around a query-to-chart workflow in Product Analytics. You can write SQL against your warehouse, preview the results, then filter, group, and chart those rows without defining a GrowthBook metric first.
From query to exploration
Start with the rows you want to analyze, then configure the view:
- Browse your warehouse schema and write a read-only SELECT query.
- Run the query to preview up to 100 rows. Switch to Explore Dataset to configure values, filters, groupings, and chart type.
- Choose a raw table for unaggregated rows or a chart for an aggregated view.
A timestamp column is optional. Date filtering, period comparisons, and time-series charts require one. If you change the SQL, run the query again to update the available columns.
Keep a useful view
You can save a SQL exploration to a dashboard. Saving requires Pro or Enterprise, the Product Analytics Dashboards entitlement, and permission to create or edit the destination dashboard.
Existing Custom SQL Reports remain accessible through the legacy-reports banner in SQL Explorer.
Getting started
Open Product Analytics → SQL Explorer and choose a data source on Build Dataset. You need the Run SQL Explorer Queries permission. Select Run Query, check the preview, then switch to Explore Dataset.
Follow the SQL Explorer guide for the query and chart setup.
