Create experiment drafts before finishing analysis setup
You can create an experiment draft from the Experiments page before choosing every analysis setting. The creation form asks only for the essentials, then takes you to Overview to finish setup. You can write the hypothesis, pick the assignment attribute and share the draft while you work out the data source, assignment table and metrics.
Finish setup on Overview
Options that used to sit in the creation form now live on the experiment's Overview page. For a standard experiment, the pre-launch checklist guides you through the remaining configuration:
- Select a data source and experiment assignment table.
- Add at least one goal metric.
- Link a feature flag, Visual Editor change or URL redirect, depending on how you deliver the experiment.
Most configuration happens after creation, so you can come back to the draft as each decision is made. Enterprise customers can customize the pre-launch checklist.
Review automatic selections
When possible, GrowthBook fills in the data source and experiment assignment table for you. Before launch, check those selections against your assignment attribute. Automatic selection doesn't confirm that the assignment table matches that attribute's identifier type, so take a closer look when you start from a template.
Getting started
Go to Experiments, click Add → Create New Experiment, and enter the experiment details. Create the draft, then complete setup on Overview. The experiment configuration guide covers each field and the remaining settings.
